On Friday, with a beautiful perfect forecast in store, we decided to head to the beach! We packed up the cooler, loaded up our supplies (had to make a quick stop downtown to get a few things out of Jeff’s car) and it was on to
Originally the weather forecast had predicted stormy, rainy weather for the entire week my family was going to be here, but we really got lucky (blessed…) and the only thunderstorm was Sunday afternoon while we were in church.
Anyway, it ended up being the perfect day to be at the beach. There weren’t many people on the beach; and although it caused flight delays, we did gain some benefit from Hurricane Dolly; the waves at the beach were great! They were pretty big- the lifeguards wouldn’t let people go out too far, but the boogie boarding was awesome! That was definitely the favorite activity of the afternoon.
Jacob and Caleb had a blast with Aunt Lacey and Uncle Cole, they loved running through the water, playing in the sand, and getting buried in the sand.
They loved being pulled on the boogie board by Grandpa and finding cool shells in the sand with Grandma.
Matthew was pretty good during the first part- he played in the sand and had fun in the water. A few hours into the afternoon he got pretty grumpy, and fortunately we were able to get him to fall asleep in his stroller where he took about a 2 hour nap! Poor little guy must have been pretty tired. Everyone else (with the exception of Dad and I) managed to catch a nap on the car ride home.
We finally headed home around

It was fun to be together-and great to have Jeff with us! The boys were pretty good too. Matthew got his first taste of lemon-and actually liked it, he kept chewing on it. The rest of the night he entertained himself by dropping things- everything he could reach- off of the table. We really did have fun, and it was nice not to have to clean up dinner!
