First Day of Preschool

Today was Jacob's first day of preschool. He's been super excited about it for a long time! It was sure fun to take him and be part of the big day! (Although a bit sad for Mom at first) He will go two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for about 2 hours. It's great for Jacob, he's been ready for preschool for a while now. He loves being there with Miss Jamie his teacher, and all his friends and learning about new things. I love how he gives me a big hug and runs right into the classroom, and yet is so excited to see me when it's over & tells me about everything he's done.

It's also nice because it gives Caleb and I some time together too, at least for a few weeks before baby brother makes his big debut. Although I think Caleb would gladly join Jacob in all the fun! (He was pretty upset when he didn't get to stay too)

It's still strange thinking that Jacob is already old enough for preschool. I'm so excited for him, and yet I can't help but wonder if I'm ready for my life to be entering this stage already. Are my kids really going to school? (Okay, it's still just preschool, but still...) I guess that's why you just have to take the time to enjoy every stage of life, because time passes all too quickly & your kids are grown up before you know it!

Anyway, we enjoyed this first day & went to the park for lunch afterwards to celebrate the big day. The boys had lots of fun.

36 Weeks & Counting...

Well, I'm officially 36 weeks. The final month is already here! I guess it's hard to know for sure when the baby will come though. Jacob was born at 41 weeks & Caleb was born at 38. So I've got a pretty good range to work with.

Somedays I'm completely excited and ready for this baby to be born. Other days I'm hoping he'll take his time. We're working on names, but nothing for sure just yet. Most of the baby clothes are washed & hanging in the closet. I've got most things that I'll need. The hospital bag is in the process of being packed. I just still have my days where I don't feel completely ready yet. Maybe it's knowing that it's baby #3. It's crazy thinking we'll be a family of five! Oh well, I guess that's the reason that babies come when they're ready. I just hope that I will be!

This baby has definitely shown his personality, he's a super busy little boy and is constantly kicking and moving around. Jacob & Caleb think it's funny to watch him move all over. It will be fun to meet him and see what he looks like and what his personality is like. We're grateful and excited. I guess all we can do now is wait!

Boys Will Be Boys

This past Sunday we were just about ready to walk out the door for church. I was just finishing putting the last things in our bag, and noticed that the boys weren’t around. It didn’t take me too long to figure out what they were doing. Our apartment is set up that you walk in the front door and have to walk up about 10 stairs to get to the actual living area. The stairwell/entryway is pretty small, about a small square maybe 3 feet by 3 feet. Anyway, I looked down the stairs and Jacob and Caleb had taken all the cushions and pillows off of the couches, and we have quite a few- 12 to be exact, thrown them down the stairs, and were jumping from a couple stairs up into a huge pile of pillows that completely covered the ground about 2 feet high. It was pretty funny, even though we were trying to get out the door. These boys keep us busy, but also entertained whether that’s good or bad. We sure love them. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when we add another one to the bunch!

Fun Mail Days

Don’t you just love good mail days? Usually you get the basic bills and junk mail, but last Friday we got a package from Grandma and Grandpa Stevens. It was mostly a birthday package for Caleb’s birthday, but also had some other fun things. They just got back from a cruise to Alaska to celebrate their 35th anniversary. Jacob and Caleb had a blast pulling out the toys, clothes, and of course treats. Grandma and Grandpa are so thoughtful and sweet to all of us. We each got something fun from Alaska & I got the traditional hospital/diaper bag with useful things for the big day. The boys had a blast playing with the new toys & it made me laugh watching Caleb, so typical, he gets out all of the fruit snacks out of the box and hoards them. Anyway, it was sure fun. Thanks Mom & Dad!

Hats off to Halloween!

So here we are going through the unpacking process (yet again). It's always fun for Jacob & Caleb though, because they get to help go through the boxes & pull things out, and usually find things that they enjoy playing with.
One of their favorite finds this past week was our little Halloween trick-or-treat bags. These were nice soft ones that our neighbor gave them our last Halloween here (2 years ago). Anyway, they had fun stashing toys and other little things in them. Then Jacob figure out that they worked great as hats too! So they put them up on their heads & ran around having fun. I love to see their fun little personalities and creativity at work!

Happy Birthday Caleb!

Today

I can't believe my little baby is already 2 years old! I know everyone says this, but I really can't believe how quickly the time has passed. I still wonder how he went from such a tiny (6 lbs 6 oz) baby to such a little mini man!

His birthday was on Sunday. We sang to him & had a special breakfast that morning, Caleb loves blueberry pancakes & juice! Then headed off to church. Jeff was on call again this weekend, and ended up having to make some visits to the hospital during the afternoon. So the boys and I finished making dinner & Caleb's cake.

It was funny, I tried to get both of them to take naps after church & they just wouldn't fall asleep. They kept playing and laughing at each other; but really... can you blame them when it's birthday time? I finally gave in and just let them stay up and play together. Plus, there were lots of family members calling to wish Caleb a happy birthday anyway. Well, I guess all the excitement finally got to Caleb. As I was doing the finishing touches on his birthday cake around 6, I found him completely out on the couch. He was so tired that he didn't even make it all the way up, he was half on the couch & half off. It was so funny.

Jeff finally got home around 6:30 and we were able to get Caleb to wake up for dinner & then presents & birthday cake. He was so excited about all the fun gifts. His favorite things right now are anything to do with trains & cars. My mom found him a couple pairs of "Cars" pajamas and as soon as he opened them, he came running over to me and said, "On, on" so we put them on & let him finish the presents. He loved everything, but a couple of his favorites were a fun set of cars figures from the movie, and a cute little Thomas the Tank engine toy. Caleb is so funny, he loves to hoard things to himself, and he would put all 6 cars in his arms, plus the train & carry them all around. Of course he also insisted on sleeping with all of them too.

It was so fun to celebrate his birthday today. Caleb is such a fun member of our family. He's a tough little guy & one of his favorite activities is wrestling with Jacob. Even with the size and age difference, Caleb does great holding his own! He can be so stubborn & definitely has a strong personality, but he is so sweet and still loves to be held and cuddled. Usually a couple times during the day he'll get his sippy cup, and come over to sit with me or stand by me until I pick him up & hold him. Then he'll just lay his head on my shoulder & suck his fingers (Yes, after 2 years, he still loves to suck his pointer & middle fingers-we need to start working on that) But what can I say, it still melts my heart. And when Daddy comes home, he'll head over to where Jeff is working on the computer or studying, and crawl up on his lap for some love and attention. Caleb is so much fun and brings so much joy & happiness to our family. We can't imagine life without him & his fun personality.

Happy Birthday sweet Caleb, we love you!

Finally Connected!

Well, we're finally connected! It's been a crazy past week. We spent most of last week packing up from our sublet & getting everything moved to a storage unit. From there we went to a hotel and stayed for a few days. Finally last week we moved up and started getting into our new apartment, getting everything moved back from the storage unit & our trailer into the apartment. Now we're trying to get unpacked & settled, and this morning we finally have internet again. It's crazy how fast your e-mail inbox fills up, and it's amazing how much you use it for everything! So I'm looking forward to getting caught up with everything & posting about our latest adventures. We had fun at the hotel for a a few days, and yesterday Caleb turned 2! More to come later...
